Recap, and the Start of a New Year

Hello, everyone!

I hope everyone’s holidays were lovely, and that you’ve got a good start on 2017. Now that some time has passed since my last entry, I thought this would be a good time to recap on the things you might have missed, and to delve into present goings-on, and future prospects for my literary works. So, to start things off:

-You might remember that my third novel (final installment in the Whispers of Nowhere Trilogy) “The Mythos Trials”, was completed October 30th. Or at least, the first draft. From there, I went on to do the fourth draft of Whispers of Nowhere.

-As of December 3rd, what I’ve started referring to as my “preliminary final edits” of “Whispers of Nowhere” were completed. Obviously this means I intend to comb through it again, but that edits won’t go beyond minor (as all revisions have finally been taken care of).

-With only a couple of weeks before I would be going away for the holidays, I focused the remaining time–from December 3rd to the 20th–working on outlines, character bios, and writing a couple of scenes a-piece for my two prequel novels. The Spectrum Chronicles: “Arcane Guardian” and “Shadow & Flame” respectively. Upon returning from holiday visits on the 27th, I continued the outlines and character bios.

-On January 1st, I began doing a read-through of my second novel, “Fall of the Spectrum”, making notes of any errors or changes I wished to make along the way.

Now that the read-through has been completed, I’ve begun the second draft of “Fall of the Spectrum”. The story isn’t getting a major overhaul or anything; it simply will have new scenes added in at specific intervals. Other than that, the story stays very much the same–just polished, and with a bit more insight into what certain characters and denominations were up to when they had otherwise been relegated to a “behind the scenes” kind of role.

If not for my insight to perform a read-through first, this would likely be a lot more overwhelming than it is; as it is sure to be once I actually have to write the new scenes. It’s happened before. More times than I’m comfortable admitting. ^^; However things go, smoothly or otherwise, I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t feel good getting back in the writing chair. And apparently I’m not alone; the muses are raring to go, too. 😉

Well, that’s the long and the short of it. If you want to know more about my works or read them, feel free to mosey on over to my Wattpad page here: https://www.wattpad.com/user/RebelDynasty

If you’d like more frequent updates or insight into my work, process, or what-have-you, feel free to drop by my author page on FB: https://www.facebook.com/SRsRamblings/

With that, I bid you all adieu, and wish you the best of luck in your endeavours, whatever they may be.

About rebeldynasty

Hello, there, and welcome to my humble little corner of the internet! My name is Shannon, and I've wanted to be a writer for the better majority of my life. In the last 4+ years, I've begun taking the steps necessary to get myself to that point. I am currently working on a trilogy under the title, "Whispers of Nowhere". I started outlining the first book, "Whispers of Nowhere" between late 2013 and early 2014, and officially began writing the first draft May 2014. As of Dec 2016, it has undergone a multitude of edits, and four complete drafts. I began outlining the second book in the series, "Fall of the Spectrum" in May of 2015, began the first draft September 2015, and completed it nearly a full year after outlining--May 2016. That same month, I began outlining the third book, "The Mythos Trials"; the first draft of which officially started early June 2016, ending in November of the same year. On the side, I am outlining two prequel origin stories, plus a spin-off prequel that serves as the bridge between the origin stories and the Whispers of Nowhere trilogy; Shattered Time. In sum, I'll be neck-deep in writing for quite some time. If you're interested in seeing some of my work, don't hesitate to ask. :)
