It’s been awhile since my last update on here, so I figured it was about time I brought you all up to speed on the goings-on within my writerly bubble. Here goes!
-As of April 18th, the fifth draft of “Whispers of Nowhere” was completed. As of May 31st, the Prologue and first five chapters following have been in my editor’s hands. There will be more on that later.
-On May 17th, the third draft of “Fall of the Spectrum” was completed. On June 9th, the third draft of “The Mythos Trials” followed suit, having undergone minor edits only.
Since the above (so only for the past few days) I’ve been giving myself some R&R time; a task not easily done, since I’m so used to being immersed in one project or another, but a task I felt I needed to undertake, just the same. Aside from the obvious (seldom taking breaks in the past 3+ years) I felt it necessary in order to aid my transition from editing back into writing. Because let’s face it–editing sucks all the joy and creativity out of the writing process. I’ve spent so much time analyzing my novels inch by painful inch, it’s drained me of the energy to write something fresh and imaginative. It’s one thing to have the bones of a writing project figured out; it’s quite another to take those bones, and add all the sinew, veins, organs, and skin needed to turn it into a living entity–never mind all the finery that needs to be draped over it afterwards!
^That’s pretty much me, lately.
And thus, I’m taking a break; a short one, in all likelihood, since I lack the capacity for more, but a short break is better than none at all. The break from the WoN Trilogy itself will be considerably longer, since I really do feel I need to put some distance between myself and it; but after another week or so, I have full intentions of picking up where I left off with the prequels. I’m not yet sure how I’ll manage my schedule between the three, or if I’ll focus on one at a time, and switch it up on a weekly or monthly basis; but I have time to sort that out.
With regards to my editor and only having sent him a handful of chapters, that is greatly due to finances. If at all possible, I’ll hire him on for more (if not all) of the document. In the event I can’t or can only go so far, my plan is to go over what advice is given, and do my utmost to utilize it where applicable throughout the rest of the novel.
I still have hopes to publish it through Amazon Createspace and Kindle later this year, but there is no official release date, as of yet. So in the meantime, I’m going to try and enjoy my time off, and once I’m refreshed, delve into the prequels with renewed vigour.
Well, that about covers it. I hope, whatever your careers and passions, you are all doing well, and I’ll be back again in the near future to keep you apprised of mine.
Thanks for reading, and take care! ^^
